An ayah (translated as verse) means a miracle. How would you feel after seeing a miracle? Consider: وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ Faces, that Day, will be humbled [88:2] The expected sentence is: خاشعة وجوه يومئذ The ayah begins with a noun (normally Arabic sentences are verbal).
